“The money in the merchant's safe is his privacy. No one else should know this.”

Mehmet Lütfi Bekki
Our Founder

Mehmet Lütfi Bekki, born on June 27, 1932, in Balıkesir, was the only son among seven siblings in a modest household rooted in the area. Although he commenced his education at Mithatpaşa Elementary School in 1939, economic difficulties arose for the family after his father's passing in 1941, prompting Mehmet to start working at an early age.

He began his career as an apprentice coppersmith under his late master, Ramazan Solakoğlu. He remained by his side until he was summoned for military service in 1952. After completing his 30-month service, he returned to Balıkesir and worked as a blacksmith at his uncle Selahattin Karacalı's shop, located opposite the current Chamber of Commerce. In 1967, he parted ways with his uncle and ventured into business by selling hardware, equipment, and hand tools in his shop in the Yeşilli area. By the time 1972 arrived, he became a partner with Lütfi Ketküda. He took over the Balıkesir dealership of Göktepe Sert Plastik Boruları. With increasing customer demand, he secured a significant position in Balıkesir in the sale of glass, stoves, irrigation pipes, and insulation materials.

In 1983, Mehmet Bekki's sons, Hüseyin and Abdullah Bekki, joined him in their family venture. In the early 1990s, they expanded their business into the New Industrial Zone, initiating metal, pipe, profile, and sheet metal processing. Leveraging CNC machine groups, they elevated productivity and expanded their operational space. Their journey towards institutionalization began in 1995, founding Bekkiler Metal Inc. with their sons. In 1997, they acquired a nail factory that operated within a 350-square-meter area, marking their transition into manufacturing. With increasing production demands, Mehmet Bekki and his sons relocated operations to the Organized Industrial Zone, establishing the Beksan Nail & Wire Factory. Hüseyin Bekki took the helm at Beksan, while Abdullah Bekki became Deputy General Manager at Bekkiler Metal Machinery Inc.

Entering the realm of industrialization was no easy feat. Mehmet Bey faced various challenges when he took his first steps into this realm with his sons. The resolution of these problems stemmed from the blend of traditional values Mehmet Bey adhered to and the experiences he imparted to his sons, coupled with the crucial organizational structuring initiated by the brothers who deeply understood its importance. Presently, Bekkiler and Beksan stand as significant entities within Turkey's industrial landscape.
